Human Resources Director (HRD)

Responsibilities:

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer/CEO, provides daily management and supervision of Human Resources function at assigned hospital. Recruits an engaged staff of competent employees and assists management in identifying and maintaining optimal employee performance and engagement. Ensures all assigned employee transactions are accurately recorded within HR system. Coordinates payroll process at local level. Serves as liaison between SSM Health Rehab Network and Select Medical Corporate Office regarding HR-related projects and/or issues. Acts as HR resource to SSM Health Rehab Leadership Team and mentor to Institute HR staff.

Qualifications:

Responsibilities of the Human Resources Director position include:

  • Coordinates the employment program for assigned hospital(s) including recruitment, interviewing, selection, onboarding, pre-employment testing, new hire paperwork, etc. Assists with the development of an effective recruitment program which meets the staffing needs of the Institute. Supervises Recruitment Coordinators and ensures successful outcomes.
  • Administers payroll process for assigned hospital, including all transactions and report verifications related to Kronos and Oracle.
  • Provides timely employee relations support to managers/employees on an as needed basis with regard to issues of legal compliance and supports effective employee relation practices. Ensures compliance with all company policies, procedures, contracts and plan documents. Ensures HR operations comply with Federal, State and accrediting agencies.
  • Completes and reviews/approves all personnel actions, including merit increases, status changes, transfers, terminations, promotions and disciplinary actions and ensures such actions are consistent and comply with SSM Health/divisional polices and practices.
  • Coordinates the employee performance evaluation and competency assessment program providing guidance and direction and continued process improvement.
  • Monitors Institute compensation scales to ensure competitive pay practice and recommends changes as needed. Ensures integrity of consistent pay practices throughout the Institute. Collaborates with Corporate office on projects and/or issues related to compensation practices.
  • Administers employee benefit program at local level to ensure accuracy of enrollment and coordinates with appropriate parties to ensure all documents are complete and accurate. Provides benefit education during open enrollment and throughout plan year.
  • Coordinates requests for leave of absences according to established procedures and related pay practices.
  • Assists in timely administration of worker s compensation program at local level and ensures timely follow-up of claims. Seeks to enhance culture of employee safety throughout Institute.
  • Mentors and trains departmental staff. Provides guidance and direction to HR team related to HR function.
  • Assists in developing and/or conducting educational training and development workshops and other special projects
  • Represents HR function related to Institute committees as needed.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
  • Other requirements of the HRD role include:

  • Bachelor s Degree in Business/Human Resources or related field. Master s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years progressive experience in Human Resources with expose to a broad range of functions required.
  • Competency in computer/software applications related to HR functions.
  • Previous supervisory experience required.
